Learning Method With the focus on aligning education to industry-valued skills, the method for learning is derived from the theory of Connectivism which has been commonly referred to as the ‘learning theory for the digital age’. It seeks to explain complex learning in a rapidly changing social digital world.
Extensive Community Xcelerator aim to build extensive partnerships with industry and academia for content creation and delivery. Networking and community-building are the foundation of Connectivism as these two foster an environment of collaboration. The collaborative community will also enable rapid creation/curation of real-world relevant content.
Outcome Analytics All learners are not the same in their abilities or their choices. They do not aim for similar outcomes either. Understanding what works for whom will enable personalization of education. Therefore, feedback is important for both the learner and the teacher. It makes identification of gaps possible and alleviates them.
Skills Framework All assessments are tied to a skills framework. A student progresses along with a chosen skill map as he/she selects and completes a series of electives. Modularization of delivery is directed by well-researched goals and guidelines.
Content Guidelines and Best Practices Relevant content will be created/curated to fit the learning method. Crowdsourcing content will be essential for the variety of electives envisioned. Xcelerator will support academic, research, and industry experts with a playbook and a content team that will assist them through the process of content creation.
Project Based Learning Project-based learning (PBL) is an integral part of this method. PBL encourages learners to delve deeper into a domain, to explore, to reflect, to make decisions, and draw conclusions by attempting a project. It aims to make them solve real-life challenges and problems in that domain and is designed to provide students the right balance of learning and application. The method provides students with a safe environment to experiment and push their boundaries without the fear of failure. The methodology teaches ownership and encourages the students to think and work independently.
